“A TRIP TO INFINITY” Review/Post-view Musing

I took a trip to Infinity today. Now what could a stray philosopher like myself- one who's quick to say she's no good with mathematics- have to say on such a matter? Well matter in and of itself made up our question didn't it? Whether you find yourself dealing in numbers or notions, theories or theorems, A Trip To Infinity presents itself in a  format digestible for everyone. Well I say everyone .  You need only mention the concept of the  "infinite" to neatly divide a room into two categories. Those keen and even drawn to peering over a cliff's ledge, and those that sit comfortably under their shady tree. Picnic blanket grounded and poised far from any unwelcome precipice.  (No hard feelings to the tree folk. It sounds like a lovely time.) I said infinity could divide a room and then I've gone and put you outside even in my metaphor. Apologies. If you're still with me so far I imagine you're ready to take the leap. (And might well be my kind of pe...

COIN SIDED

Curiosity killed the cat,” “...but satisfaction brought it back.” A Quip; a clip, a click-a-clack,  my words go round and round alack what is language but an act to bring our troubles up to bat? ••• “A jack of trades is master none”,  “...but better than master of one.” Wordsmith, bardlets what have you done? That might have come in handy some. ••• Looking left and looking right they say that “great minds think alike” “...but fools will rarely differ right?” Okay that one’s a little trite. ••• Write a picture Paint a song You’ll never get the colours wrong Why, I would be beneath the moon to hear my greens were out of tune. ••• Brightest day or darkest night You say you’re more for grapefruit light. Fickle as the winding wind Who’ll take your soul out for a spin But somehow when it’s time to land  Sing “catch me, catch me” if you can . ••• “And why are you so windy child?” The day is bright, the Spring is mild. Well, with a twinkle in my eye, I say “Do you see yonder sky?...

DOUGHNUT DISTURBS

PROMPT: “THE DOUGHNUTS HAD FAILED TO DE-ESCALATE THE SITUATION…” Now you would think an anthropomorphic sugar-cop could handle just about anything but not this. “The Red Hot House is on fire.” “Well call the fire department then Cruller!” Cruller was a Cruller Doughnut. He also happened to be the chief of police. “This is the fire department, Glazed!”  Glaze was an aptly named Glazed doughnut with a tendency to stray from the point. “Or rather it was.” Glaze’s eyes idled over as Imperial Officer Chief- IOC for short- burst from the blaze looking even shorter and redder than usual. “Oh. Right.” “Well this is a Jam.” said Cruller’s deputy joining the scene.  “The worst I’ve seen in some time B. C.” B. C. rolled her eyes. “You say that at least once a week.” “STOP BANTERING AND SOMEDAY SAVE MY FLAMING FIREHOUSE!” IOC screeched as the scent of scorched cinnamon filled the air. “Alright, ya hot head cool it!” B. C. called “I could sit on him?” Glaze offered. “No no, we don’t ...

A Cluster of Stars (Draft Chapter)

If you ever find yourself an undercover cosmic entity, I should tell you now that Spacetime doesn’t exactly lend itself to travelling under night’s cover. But the Clusters had their own way of carrying out clandestine ventures. We were travelling through the asteroid belt concourse. (ABC to the locals.) I thought it was a little conspicuous considering everybody had to route through ABC on a daily basis but Selena insisted that the longer we could remain conspicuously inconspicuous the easier it would be for us to go rogue when the time came. So right now we were conspicuously stagnating behind an eight-wheeler. I’d spent the first half hour glancing around nervously worried we were being followed but if this didn’t inch forward soon I was ready to throw the sun up in the air and become a Brobdingnagian magnet. Better to die a colossal klutz than a slave to boredom. Somehow a comet whizzed passed us AND eight wheeler which set the whole belt off on a rampage of colourful languag...

THE ROOM APART FROM TIME

“A ROOM APART FROM TIME” I found myself in a room apart from time.  Past, Present and Future sat at a table. Off to my left was Past. Frowning and regarding me with eyes so blue I would have sworn she was staring into my soul that very moment. She had green-tinged skin and snow white hair that hanging straight and long seemed to enhance her youthful appearance rather than offset it. Leaning forward, elbows on the table and fingers stitched together I had the oddest sensation that she was suspicious of me. Though what I might have done to offend her I hadn’t the foggiest. Present seemed to be the youngest of the three. She sat atop the table, her legs dangling over the sides and not nearly reaching the floor. She had a broad smile on her face and innocence in her eyes. She had all the colour and dimension of a page in a child’s sketchbook, yet I instantly sensed she was the kindest of the three. And Future off the right seemed to be made of what I can only transcribe...
